Autonomous Violins
Autonomous Violins
Objective: Seven stainless steel violins were to play different harmonic notes, activated by human proximity.
Approach: I installed seven high torque motors, which were operated by my own custom-made motor drivers (due to the lack of available resources), in seven stainless steel violins. The violins were designed by Mahbubur Rahman. These motors moved violin bows horizontally. Each violin had ultrasonic sensors installed so that it would trigger the motors to play the violin through the bows as soon as the sensors detected attendees of the exhibit passing by. This project was controlled by an Arduino Uno microcontroller.
